See example labels in the sections below from the most popular carriers among UK-based merchants.
Domestic Royal Mail shipping labels display the service name at the top of the label and the tracking number underneath the barcode.
The label will include your ShipStation Ship From Location (or Return Address, if different from the Ship From) as the Return Address.
Only Label Message 1 is supported by our Royal Mail integration. This field, limited to 20 characters, is often used for delivery instructions.
When you ship internationally with Royal Mail, a CN23 customs form will print with your label.
Labels from DPD, DPD Local, and DPD from ShipStation will look almost identical. The only differences will be in the service name that displays on the label (for example, NEXT DAY Service) and the carrier name on the right side of the label.
The label example below is for a shipment delivered via DPD Next Day. The right side of the label shows "DPD" and the URL for DPD's website. DPD Local labels will instead show "DPD Local" and the URL for the DPD Local website.
Though custom label messages and branding are not available for DPD and DPD Local labels, the order number will print in the Ref field on the label.
Customs forms for international DPD and DPD Local shipments are submitted electronically to the carrier and do not need to be printed.
DHL Express international labels include Ship From and Ship To addresses, tracking details, optional label messages, and customs information.
If you add more than one label message to an order, ShipStation will combine all three label messages onto the Ref field on the shipping label.
DHL Express Waybill
Along with the shipping label, ShipStation will also generate a DHL waybill. This document, also known as a bill of lading, contains information about an international shipment for customs officials, including the Ship From and Ship To addresses and the package contents. In the example below, Contents: shoes can be seen next to the barcode.
Attach the waybill on the outside of your package next to your shipping label for viewing by the carrier and customs officials.
ShipStation will automatically attempt to submit customs information electronically through the DHL Express Paperless Trade service (PLT). This service is only available for certain countries supported by DHL Express.
When customs information has been electronically submitted to DHL Express, the term Paperless Trade or PLT will appear on the label.
PLT Not Supported for All Countries
If ShipStation is unable to electronically submit customs information through the Paperless Trade service, you must print any necessary customs forms with your shipping label.
