General details about ShipStation Carrier Services: Explanation of program, how to set up billing, and available features & services.
ShipStation Carrier Services provides immediate access to our partner shipping services. This access lets you print labels as soon as you begin using ShipStation through one balance of funds shared among different carrier options.
Currently, ShipStation Carrier Services partners with Hermes, DPD, and Parcelforce Worldwide drop-off services. This partnership gives you access to discounted rates with these couriers, without the need to apply for an account, qualify for delivery minimums, or create sample labels.
ShipStation Carrier Services also partners with XCover to provide Total Shipping Protection shipment insurance. Total Shipping Protection can be added to any shipment and is not limited to shipments created with our courier partners.
ShipStation Carrier Services is automatically added to your ShipStation account upon creation, but you'll need to provide billing information before you can create any labels and add insurance to your shipments.
You'll be prompted to add your billing information the first time you attempt to create a label, or you can follow the steps below to add the billing information in advance:

Click the Setup up Carriers button for ShipStation Carrier Services.

Follow the onscreen instructions to enter your billing information and agree to terms and conditions.
This billing information will be shared among any carrier options listed under ShipStation Carrier Services and for Total Shipping Protection coverage costs. Charges from ShipStation Carrier Services will appear on your credit card reports with the description “ShipStation Carrier Services".
Post-Billed Charges
Certain courier-imposed fees may be assessed after you create a label and dispatch the parcel.
These fees include, but are not limited to:

Excess weight surcharges

Out of area surcharges

Courier pickup-up surcharges
These fees are assessed by the courier and reported back to ShipStation. Once ShipStation has received notification of these charges, they will be billed to the credit card you set up for carrier fees.
To change the payment method and billing address for your ShipStation Carrier Services accounts:

Click the settings option for the account.

Select Update payment method.

Enter your billing details and click Save changes.
Payment Method is for Postage Only
Your ShipStation Carrier Services billing information is only used for postage purchases. You can update your billing information for your ShipStation subscription and Shipsurance fees in your Subscription Settings.

ShipStation Carrier Service allows for the following additional features:

Discounted Rates: All carriers available with ShipStation Carrier Service include access to pre-negotiated discounted rates, including cubic pricing for USPS shipments!

Prepaid postage: All shipments created using ShipStation Carrier Services are prepaid and use a shared pool of funds.

Return labels: All ShipStation Carrier Services carriers provide the ability to create domestic return labels in ShipStation. Check the carrier specific article for details on which services can be used to create return labels and any other restrictions that may apply.

Shipment insurance: Total Shipping Protection by XCover is a shipment insurance option available to all UK-based ShipStation accounts using ShipStation Carrier Services. Funds are purchased with the payment method used for postage from ShipStation Carrier Services.

When you cancel your ShipStation account with any remaining balance, you will automatically receive a refund within 14 business days.

ShipStation handles all billing requests for ShipStation Carrier Services. To submit a request about billing, contact ShipStation's Support Team.

You can file a claim with Total Shipping Protection by XCover through the Shipments grid. Once you have filed a claim with XCover, you can review the details and status of your claim on the XCover Claims page.
