Steps to try if you are printing from a Windows workstation and your devices intermittently disappear from the ShipStation Connect Settings screen.
If you notice that certain printers or scales intermittently appear and disappear in your ShipStation Connect Settings screen, the USB ports these devices are connected to may be going to sleep.
You can resolve this by changing the USB port's energy saving mode.
First, check the following:
Is ShipStation Connect installed and running on the printer workstation?
-
Is the printer or scale plugged in directly to the workstation USB port? Or through a hub?
If connected through a hub, you'll need to disconnect from the hub and connect directly to the printer workstation.
Once you have confirmed ShipStation Connect is installed and running, and the device is connected directly to the USB port on the printer workstation, you can adjust the energy saving mode.
-
Go to your Windows Control Panel and click on System and Security.
-
Click Power Options on the next screen.
-
Click Change plan settings under Choose or customize a power plan.
-
Click Change advanced power settings on the Plan Settings screen.
-
Expand USB Settings, then expand USB selective suspend setting in the Power Options pop-up.
Set both On battery and Plugged in to Disabled.
Click Apply to save your changes.
Your printers and scales should now stop disappearing from your ShipStation Connect Settings screen.
