Stripe Relay

How to add a Stripe Relay store to ShipStation, what features are available, and other need-to-know details.

Stripe Relay makes mobile commerce easier for buyers and sellers by offering an API for online retailers that improves the order checkout process in third-party mobile apps. ShipStation will import your Stripe orders so you can create shipping labels, and update Stripe with the shipment information.

Stripe Requirements

Connection Requirements:

  • An active account with Stripe.

Order Import Requirements:

  • Only Orders will be imported. Payments or charges not associated with an order will not be imported into ShipStation.

  • Include a Ship To address.

  • Contain at least one physical product.

Connect a Stripe account to ShipStation

To connect your Stripe account to ShipStation:

If you're connecting multiple Stripe accounts to ShipStation, we recommend you log out of any active Stripe sessions before connecting the accounts.

  1. Select the Stripe tile.

    Stripe logo.
  2. Click Connect.

  3. Log in to your Stripe account by clicking the Sign in link in the top right corner of the page. If you were already logged in to Stripe, this step will be skipped.

  4. Click Allow to grant ShipStation access to Stripe.

After you've completed the connection steps, your store will be connected to ShipStation. You'll be taken to the store's Settings page to adjust the store-specific settings like branding, notification preferences, and product handling.

This integration allows you to define the Status Mappings for the store connection.

ShipStation will import the customer email address and can send customer shipment notification and delivery emails.

ShipStation will import the customer phone number.

ShipStation will import the shipping method chosen by the customer at time of checkout.

ShipStation will import the payment method used to pay for the order.

ShipStation will import discount and coupon information for the order.

ShipStation is able to determine if an order was placed as a gift.

ShipStation will import internal notes or order activity from the selling channel.

ShipStation will import notes left by the customer at time of checkout. Displayed as Customer notes in ShipStation's Legacy Layout.

ShipStation will import the total order weight from the selling channel.

ShipStation will import the weight for each line item in the order.

ShipStation will import an image URL for each line item in the order.

ShipStation will import item options (such as color or size) for each line item in the order.

ShipStation will import a product stock location for each line item in the order.

The shipment update ShipStation sends to the selling channel will include any Notes to Buyer set on the order in ShipStation.

Additional Details about the Stripe Integration

  • This integration is specific to Orders from Stripe, and will not import Payments made using Stripe's standard payment processor.

  • Once an order is shipped or marked as shipped, ShipStation will send a shipment update to Stripe to update the order to the Fulfilled status. However, no specific shipment details (carrier, service, or tracking number) will be included. Shipment details will be included for any emails ShipStation sends to your Stripe customers.
