Details about ShipStation's DPD Local integration. Includes requirements, connection process, features, integration notes, and troubleshooting.
DPD Local is one of the UK's top time-sensitive carriers, providing both local and international services. ShipStation's integration with DPD Local allows you to create labels for both domestic and international shipments from the UK.
Additionally, ShipStation offers electronic customs forms submissions for your international shipments and the ability to create return labels directly in ShipStation for your domestic shipments.

Connection Requirements:
-
A DPD Local account.
-
Your DPD Local account Username and Password.
You MUST reset the password from your temporary login credentials to a permanent one before you connect to ShipStation. If not, you will receive an error when trying to connect your account.
Test Label Requirements:
DPD Local requires you to create test labels before creating active labels through ShipStation. Failure to get approval before you start dispatching DPD Local parcels via ShipStation could result in the suspension of your account.
Contact your DPD Local Account Manager to let them know you intend to use ShipStation and for instructions to create test labels.
To connect your DPD Local account to ShipStation:
-
Select the DPD Local tile and click Connect.
-
Enter your DPD Local Username and Password, then choose an Account Nickname to identify the account in ShipStation.
-
Click Connect to finish.
Once you've connected your account, you'll be able to select DPD Local services for shipments in ShipStation. However, before dispatching any parcels with DPD Local labels, follow your DPD Local account manager's instructions to print test labels and get them approved! Once approved, you may begin dispatching parcels using DPD Local labels created in ShipStation.

DPD-issued Citizen printers may experience issues with printing the correct label size. If you encounter printing issues, please see the Set Up Printers in MacOS or Set Up Printer in Windows help article for detailed information on how to configure your printer.
Here are some common issues, potential causes, and troubleshooting tips.
Issue |
How to Troubleshoot or Resolve |
---|---|
DPD labels print with unscannable barcodes or fail the DPD test label requirements. |
DPD labels are 4x4 (105mm x 102mm), but ShipStation produces only 4x6 labels (105mm x 152mm) using the DPD 4x4 file size. What to do: Make sure your printer settings in your operating system are set correctly for the actual size of the label you use. Additionally, make sure your printer settings are set to "actual size" or "100%" and do not enable scaling when you print. If you are using a DPD-provided Citizen printer, please review our Set Up Printers in MacOS or Set Up Printers in Windows help articles for proper setup instructions. |
Error: Bad Request: consignment[0].totalWeight:Maximum value exceeded TransactionID |
What it means: DPD Classic By Road requires a minimum weight of 200g. |
Error: Invalid tax identifier. Be sure to use EORI for international shipments from the UK. |
What it means: You may receive an error if you attempt to use a VAT number instead of an EORI number. This does not necessarily mean the VAT code is invalid itself, but that you should be using an EORI code to ship internationally via DPD Local and not a VAT number. |
